Bruce Friend

Bruce Friend is Pine Springs Preparatory’s Head of School. Bruce brings more than two decades of K-12 education experience with him to this position, and he has served as Board Chair on the PSPA Board of Directors. Bruce has helped make PSPA a reality.

In 2014, he started the effort of holding community meetings in Holly Springs to gauge the interest of parents and community leaders on the idea of starting a charter school in our fast-growing town. With his experience as a middle and high school teacher, secondary school administrator, district-level administrator, and a consultant in education innovation, Bruce is recognized as one of the pioneers in developing innovative K–12 school models.

Stephanie Needham

Stephanie Needham is PSPA’s Elementary School Principal. Ms. Needham is a skilled instructional leader who brings a wealth of experience with curriculum design to Pine Springs Prep. She was identified in the top 25% of NC educators for student performance growth on reading achievement by North Carolina effectiveness standards. Ms. Needham is proud to be a Pioneer and looks forward to continuing to help create a personalized learning experience for all students.

Glenn Dansky

Glenn Dansky, our Middle Grades principal, joined Pine Springs Prep with over 16 years of administrative experience and over 25 years of educational experience overall. He has been a principal at Louisburg High School, an administrator at Middle Creek and Millbrook High Schools, and an assistant principal and teacher at middle schools in South Florida prior to moving to North Carolina. He has helped create and lead IB Magnet Schools and a STEM Academy, as well as serving in various roles across school communities. With a focus on building strong relationships and high academic standards, Mr. Dansky is proud to be part of the Pine Springs Community and to be a member of a great leadership team and school!

Sue Yencha

Hi, my name is Sue Yencha, and I am the K-5 Assistant Principal at PSPA.  I have my master’s degree in Reading from UNC-Chapel Hill and my bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Cleveland State University. I have over 30 years of experience in K-8 schools and am a founding PSPA Faculty-Staff Member.  

Lauren Johnson

Ms. Johnson is ecstatic to be a founding PSPA team member. Ms. Johnson is excited to work with our middle school students and staff as our middle school assistant principal. She graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Johnson returned to her alma mater and graduated with her master’s in Curriculum and Instruction: New Literacies and Global Learning. Go Wolfpack! She just completed her twelfth year of teaching, where she taught kindergarten, fourth, and fifth grade. She has held many other roles at PSPA such as Beginning Teacher Coordinator, Licensure Coordinator, and Director of Summer School.
